Don’t just visit happiness, LIVE IT!

It’s a plain and simple truth…

Life is not always easy.  It is never certain, most times unclear.  We live in a world of earthquakes, floods, war, death, inequality, racism, hunger, divorce, poverty.  Many aspects of life challenge us as human beings every day.  We must push through and persevere.

Isn’t life full of amazing wonders though?  Sunshine, family, nature, love, warmth.  The list is endless.

Sometimes it is very difficult to watch the news these days.  It seems that most of the time the world is focused on what’s wrong.  I wish we could focus more on what’s right with the world.

We need to smile, and laugh, and love.  Hug your loved ones.  Be polite.  Care for your neighbors.  Reach out and help strangers.  Uplift, and enjoy life.  We only have one life to live, and doesn’t it make more sense to be kind?

Let negativity go, or use it to inspire positive change.

Wouldn’t the world be a better place if more of us smiled?  Live in your happy place today, and every day.

Do you inspire others to run?

Image

Crazy or not, millions of people like you and me lace up running shoes every day and hit the streets.  Running is a great way to get fit.  Running is a brilliant way to meet other like minded people trying to enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.  Running is pretty much a solo sport, however.  We can try to learn from others, listen and take advice from the pros, but it’s really just me, myself and I out there putting one foot in front of the other.

You can make a difference though, a real impact on your community at large through your running.  No matter what your skill level, we all can do it.  Just by being out there.  On the road, or on the trails.  In the park, or on the high school track.  Taking part in that local or national race.  Be an advocate for our sport.  Get others to run.  You don’t have to be real vocal about it, you can let your running shoes do the talking.

When you race, cheer on those that look like first timers.  Thank the folks on the sidelines that are watching.  Those people may be aspiring runners that just need a little motivation.  Just you being out there may influence that person to lace up and run one day.  Have you ever thought about all of those people who not necessarily are there watching your race or your run, but are just strolling by doing their own thing?  That business person walking to lunch, or that Mom pushing the baby stroller?  The girl working an aid station on the course because she needs community service hours?  The school bus driver that passes, or the postal worker delivering your mail when you are out running in your neighborhood?  All folks that are silently being influenced by your running.

I believe that it is all of our responsibilities to inspire fitness in others.  To live and breathe a happy, healthy lifestyle.  You may not want to join a running club, or be social at all with your running, but it truly can be a great way to motivate others to do the same thing.

We all aren’t out there necessarily to win, but we must all inspire.  Do it in the way that you most feel comfortable.  You don’t have to get up on stage and preach about it, or write about it, or even vocalize it.  Just a simple smile may just do the trick out there on your next run.

9/11 Hope & Inspiration

Today we remember, but we never forget.  Where we were, what life was like, the day those moments changed our lives forever.

I believe a day like today we remember our fallen one’s.  We celebrate our heroes.  We look forward with love and hope and healing for a brighter future for this World we live in.

Hope….

It means so much, and carries us forward in life.  Without hope, what is there?

This quote by Emerson pretty much sums up.  There must always be hope, even in the darkest of dark.  When we feel down or defeated or at our absolute zero, just look up, the stars will surely appear.  I’ve been down, but never out.

Live life more fearlessly.  With hope, understanding and gratitude, maybe some of the suffering does truly melt away.  I try to be as fearless as possible, but always have to remind myself to reach.  Reach up, forward, beyond…..

Today is about heroism, and finding in ourselves, ways to be more heroic.  To take a stand, to give of ourselves, to make a difference in the lives of others and ourselves.  Let’s always remember our heroes, and aspire to be more like them.

Memories are a part of who we are.  We make memories, we cherish memories, we reflect on memories.  Memories can hold us back, or propel us forward.  As we strive to better ourselves, our communities, our nations, let’s take those thoughts and build a better human race, a kinder people.  Learning from the past is a crucial part of being better people.  Can we all unite in the betterment of this world we live in?

Hope and Heroism…..Let’s all try to show a little more.  Each one of us can make a difference.
